The renal denervation catheter is introduced through the femoral artery in the upper thigh. The physician then makes several lesions using radiofrequency or ultrasound along the sympathetic nerves. These nerves connect the brain, heart, blood vessels, and kidneys, and play a major role in the management of hypertension.
